Alvin Walker
National Electrical Code, Electrical Theory, Business and Law for Contractors
For more than thirteen years, Alvin Walker, a native of Shreveport, La., has owned and operated a small yet successful electrical contracting business. He now works as an author and instructor, specializing in electrical and NEC training, with services throughout the United States. In his over twenty-seven years of experience, he has developed a very strong background in electrical maintenance, design and construction applications. He has taught the National Electrical Code, Electrical Theory, Business and Law for Contractors, Electric Service, Motors and Transformer Load Calculations and other basic and advanced electrical classes at Louisiana State University – Shreveport, Bossier Parish Community College, Louisiana Technical College, Southern University – Shreveport, Forcht Wade Correction Center and Houston Community College – Stafford, where he was department head of Industrial Electricity. He is best known for his hands-on approach and the ability to simplify and explain the most difficult electrical subject matters. Mr. Walker is a master electrician and holds a Louisiana State license as an electrical contractor. He has a degree in electrical engineering from the University of South Carolina and has worked as an electrical engineer for E.I. DuPont, Westinghouse and M.W. Kellogg. He has published an electrical theory book and a volume of books extensively covering the National Electrical Code.
